Innovation built on a solid foundation.
In 1967, building on 10 years of experience in environmental engineering with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and a large multi-discipline consulting firm, Lewis J. McCoy Sr. opened his own engineering practice in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. A year later he brought in a new partner with experience in industrial HVAC, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering: Charles H. Stevens. Stevens and McCoy was incorporated in 1969. In 1970, Stevens and McCoy, Inc. acquired Spotts Engineering Associates – founded in 1932 – to become Spotts, Stevens and McCoy, Inc.
Growth was accommodated by periodic expansions, moves to larger facilities, and acquisitions. As our technology, expertise and reputation grew, so did the geographic demand for our services – from the region to the state, throughout the United States, and international.
Our multi-faceted engineering and consulting firm continues to be run by McCoy family members. J. Carlton Godlove II, P.E., Brian R. Kelly, Lewis J. McCoy Jr., SPHR and Patrick M. McCoy, P.E. guide our staff, as well as our company-wide commitments to professional integrity, cutting-edge technology, synergistic services and resources, environmental responsibility and client relationships.
